Terms and Conditions
ChinaTeach Weekend Courses
- 1. For the purposes of these terms and conditions the following definitions apply: "Participant" means you; "Deposit" means deposit of £50; "Booking Fee" means booking fee of £225; "Balance of the Fee" means balance of £175; "Course Date" means the start date of the weekend course you are applying for.
- 2. A non-refundable Deposit must accompany all online and postal bookings. The Balance of the Fee must be paid no later than 14 days prior to the Course Date. Any booking form received within 14 days of the Course Date must be accompanied by the full Booking Fee. If ChinaTeach does not receive the full Booking Fee within 14 days of the Course Date, they have the right to cancel the Participant's place on the course.
- 3. Places on the course are subject to availability. The sending in of a booking form and Deposit or Booking Fee does not guarantee a place on the course until the Participant receives email confirmation from ChinaTeach.
- 4. ChinaTeach reserves the right to change or cancel dates or locations of a course where the occasion necessitates. If the amended date or location is not acceptable to the Participant, ChinaTeach will refund in full all fees paid by the Participant.
- 5. In the event of a cancellation by the Participant made in writing and received at least 14 days before the Course Date, ChinaTeach will retain the Deposit paid by the Participant but will refund the Balance of the Fee.
- 6. In the event of a cancellation by the Participant less than 14 days before the Course Date, ChinaTeach will retain the full Booking Fee.
- 7. If the Participant wishes to transfer to another weekend course, any Deposit or Booking Fee paid by the Participant to ChinaTeach shall be transferred to that other weekend course. Notice of the change must be made at least 14 days before the original Course Date. Transfer to another weekend course within 14 days of the Course Date can only be made at the reasonable discretion of ChinaTeach. If transfer is not possible, ChinaTeach will retain the full Booking Fee.
- 8. No refunds shall be made for non-attendance on the course.
- 9. In the event of the cancellation of a course by ChinaTeach, ChinaTeach will refund the full Booking Fee paid by the Participant. No other compensation shall be payable to the Participant for cancellation of the course.
- 10.ChinaTeach will not be responsible for any injury, illness, death, loss, damage, expense, cost or claim which results from the act or default of the Participant or the act or default of a third party not connected with ChinaTeach including venue providers.
- 11.Acceptance onto the ChinaTeach Weekend Course does not necessarily mean that the Participant will be accepted onto the China Job Placement Service.
- 12.Any information the Participant gives to ChinaTeach will only be used for purposes in connection with the ChinaTeach Weekend Course.
Privacy Policy
ChinaTeach Job Placement Service
For the purposes of these terms and conditions, the following definitions apply: "the Programme" means the ChinaTeach Job Placement Service; "the Participant" means you; "the Host Institution" means your potential employer in China.
- 1. The Programme forms part of the ChinaTeach Weekend Course and as such the terms and conditions for the ChinaTeach Weekend Courses also apply.
- 2. The Participant agrees that all the information provided in his/her job placement application is true to the best of his/her knowledge and acknowledges that any false or misleading information may lead to his/her not being offered a teaching job.
- 3. ChinaTeach reserves the right to refuse onto the Programme a Participant who does not meet the eligibility requirements or a Participant who ChinaTeach deems to be unsuitable for a teaching job in China.
- 4. The role of ChinaTeach is to assist in the facilitation of introducing the Participant to a Host Institution in China for the purposes of obtaining a contract to teach at that Host Institution.
- 5. ChinaTeach will try to the best of its ability to find an acceptable teaching job for the Participant. ChinaTeach can not guarantee that the Participant will gain employment as a result of being accepted for representation by ChinaTeach.
- 6. While ChinaTeach will provide a reasonable amount of support and assistance throughout the job placement process, the teaching contract is solely between the Participant and the Host Institution. ChinaTeach will endeavour to monitor compliance with the contract by the Host Institution; however, ChinaTeach has no power or authority to enforce compliance by the Host Institution, and shall not be responsible for any failure by the Host Institution to comply with such a contract.
- 7. While ChinaTeach can recommend matches and specific placements to the Host Institutions, ChinaTeach does not have the ability to make placement decisions. All final placement decisions are made by the Chinese government and/or Host Institution.
- 8. It should be understood by the Participant that the working and living conditions in China are very different from those in the UK, and in some instances may be quite basic. Much of the information concerning the Host Institution is provided to ChinaTeach by the Host Institution itself and/or its agency in China. While ChinaTeach believes this information to be generally correct, ChinaTeach cannot guarantee its accuracy and thus makes no representations or warranties about these statements or the actual conditions.
- 9. While every effort will be made to fulfil specific placement requests, ChinaTeach cannot guarantee that all requests will be met. If the Participant does not accept a reasonable placement offered by ChinaTeach, no fees will be refunded.
- 10. ChinaTeach will process an application from the Participant which is received by ChinaTeach within six months of the start date of the ChinaTeach Weekend which the Participant attended. ChinaTeach will not process applications received more than six months after the start date of the weekend
- 11. The Participant is responsible and liable for obtaining the necessary passports, visas and documentation for participation in the Programme.
- 12. The Participant is responsible for paying all costs and expenses related to his/her participation in the Programme. ChinaTeach is not responsible or liable for other parties' services or products related to the Programme.
- 13. The Participant is responsible for arranging his/her own transport and personal and medical insurance related to the Programme.
- 14. The terms and conditions as related to the Programme begin on the date of acceptance by ChinaTeach of the Participant onto the Programme and end on the date on which the initial contract is finalised between the Participant and the Host Institution.
- 15. The Participant authorises ChinaTeach to collect and hold personal information such as email address, address, copy of passport, work and academic history to present him/her to a Host Institution or its agent for the purpose of attempting to obtain employment for him/her in China. ChinaTeach will not use this information for any other purposes than those just described.
