ChinaTeach Weekends
The ChinaTeach weekend is designed to give you practical and interesting information to help prepare you for living and teaching in China. Included in the weekend is an optional Job Placement Service which finds you a teaching job in China.
The ChinaTeach Weekend is particularly suitable for you if:
- You have already accepted a teaching job in China to start in the near future but would like some practical information before you go
- You are considering teaching in China but would like to find out more before you decide
- You are considering teaching abroad but are not sure where to go
- You are not considering teaching in China for the moment but would like to find out more for a possible date in the future
- You are thinking of a career change or a career break and would like to find out if teaching in China is right for you
Weekend sessions include:
- Living in China - what to expect: people, customs, culture, everyday life, practicalities, regions of China
- Culture shock - What is it? How to deal with it?
- Mandarin Chinese - some basic survival expressions to get you started
- Teaching in China - what to expect: types of schools, types of jobs, methodology and teaching techniques for Chinese schools
- Useful teaching resources - booklists, websites, ready-to-go lessons
- Job Placements - Information on the types of teaching jobs available
- Job Placement Service - how does the job placement service work? discussing preferences, application procedure
- Some sessions are presentation-based, other sessions are more interactive. The emphasis throughout the weekend is very much on providing you with useful and practical information in an informal and enjoyable way.
Locations
The ChinaTeach Weekends are held at locations throughout the UK, typically on a University campus or in a city centre hotel. Full details and map will be sent to you shortly after receipt of your booking form and deposit.
Participants
Participants range in age from 20 - 60 and come from a wide range of backgrounds: students, recent graduates, qualified EFL teachers, people looking for a career break or life change. Groups are small (5 - 15 participants) making for a friendly informal atmosphere.
Timetable
- Saturday - 9.00am - 5.00pm
- Sunday - 9.00am - 4.00pm
Cost
The cost of the weekend is £225. This includes the Job Placement Service.
Please note that participation on one of the ChinaTeach Weekends does not include any obligation to apply for the Job Placement Service. The Job Placement Service is an option included in the weekend.
The cost of the weekend does not include:
- accommodation
- meals and refreshments (catering facilities and/or shops are within easy reach of the venue)
